(More customer reviews)These things work great! The grip toast and related bread-like products just fine. You don't risk getting electrocuted because they're not made of metal. They have a handy magnet to keep then on the fridge and at the ready. The only downside is that if you want to retrieve a toasted bagel then you'll also need J.K. Adams BT-1M Bagel Tongs which share the same virtues as this product and are a bit larger.
BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've gotten from other reviewers and continue to return the favor as best as I can.
