(More customer reviews)This oven is definitely considered large, even if it doesn't appear to at first. I have another DeLonghi oven that is going strong for over 12 years and it is barely 11" wide and just 9" deep. The 6-slice Oven reviewed here easily handles a 13" round pizza, with a special round protrusion in the rear to handle the round pizza shape. By comparison, my old oven is good only for 4 slices of bread.
The 3 dials of the 6-slice oven is the way to go, offering far more control via option to have upper coil only, lower only, and both. I had very good luck with DeLonghi kitchen products.

Though I read the dimensions - I still managed (somehow) to believe this thing would be smaller than it is... I'm going to keep it though.
You need counter space in the following measures:
26" wide (that gives you enough space on either side)
16" deep (again - enough space on the back and in front)
12" tallPROS:
It'll hold a ten pound bird in a pan
It comes with a roasting pan
Seems easy to clean
It would be great for someone who has a really small (efficiency) apartment or doesn't have a typical oven for some reason.
Convection Bake is actually a setting on the oven - there are other non-convection options for simple toasting and electric baking
CONS:
The fan is a little noisy... not much. Just a little (as loud as any fan might be in a room)
It's pretty hot to the touch - keep kids away
COSMETICS:
The thing is big - this isn't your typical 6-slice oven...
The dials seem unnecessarily large
The finish is great
It's not ALL stainless steel - there are some plastic pieces that are silver-toned (mostly on the handle and places where I'm sure using steel would've given people burns)
It's SUPER SHINY

Cuisinart TOB-30BW Toaster Oven/Broiler Review

(More customer reviews)I have owned our Cuisinart TOB-30 series for less then 3 months and we were very happy with it, until one day we noticed the unit would not shut off when turned to the off setting, the light would remain on and there is still being heat generated in the oven in the off position, then within a week, when you would turn the unit to the bake selection, it would not turn on and sparks would shoot out the back, only the toast feature remains working, and if you turn the knob to go through other settings sparks are generated. If you have the same situation I highly recommend you goto www.cpsc.gov the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and let them know of your concern, maybe we can get these recalled, it appears to be a faulty switch they are using. Im not hearing positive things about there service, but if you buy one, save your receipt and warranty information, you may need it and be aware of the unit at some point may not shut off unless you unplug it (if you go on vacation, etc)

(More customer reviews)Never in my life have I ever taken an instant dislike to a household appliance. The mechanical timer ticker is loud. Incredibly so (I am so not kidding. This is my main complaint). This doesn't so much toast as make bread stale to the core, then burn it. The heating elements take a very, very long time to heat up. Then, in a 15 second window the bread goes from dried to the core to burnt, which sets off the smoke alarm. Every time. It is solid, well made, the door doesn't squeek, and is NOT attached to the grill (unlike other designs!). It will probably do a wonderful job of baking, broiling, or heating. However, a toaster OVEN is what we wanted. It is also NOT going to stay here, and IS going into its' box and BACK to the store where we bought it.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this product based on the features and the fact it has a one year warranty. After 6 months is stopped working. Calling DeLonghi they said they would replace it. The next week they said no and told me to take it to a repair center they authorized that was out of town. Took it to the repair center and one week later they said it could not be fixed and DeLonghi was sending a new one. One week later I called DeLonghi and they said they never told the repair center they would replace. Instead they would send parts in 'a few weeks.' 8 weeks since the oven stopped working and I still do not know when or if I will ever get it back. Amazon should black-list DeLonghi as a vendor due to horrific customer service!

The rounded back side of the toaster oven allows for a 9" frozen pizza to be cooked within. Great thinking. Controls are simple, and easy to understand. A superior value for the money.
Room for improvement (reason for 4 stars/not 5):
1. The timer is loud - not obnoxiously so, but one is aware that the oven is on.
2. The design of the handle/glass door. Be very careful when opening the oven door! It is all too easy to touch part of the very hot glass door (burns!) when using the front handle. If you are aware of this - and are careful, is not a problem. Would not want children using this appliance for this reason.

Elite Professional Jumbo Toaster Oven Broiler - 23L Review

(More customer reviews)I have been a countertop oven user for 20 yrs-even when my three children were @ home. Takes up less space and uses less energy. With the invention of the microwave, who needs a big stove. I use a countertop 2 burner hotplate also.
When my Maximatic ERO2006S (which I stumbled upon @ a discount warehouse) retired after many years (6-8) of faithful service, after much searching for the perfect replacement and finding many worthy contenders, I stuck w/Maximatic and went for the upgrade (Elite Professional ExLarge-23L-ERO2008S) which is a better value, I think, than the ERO2006S and definately worth the extra money.
This little oven is a big bang for the buck. I just love it. Rotisserie, broil, roast, bake, steams? griddle and oh yeah-makes great toast too. Roomy enough to roast 6-8 lb (at least) chicken or turkey breast. W/separately purchased pizza stone-a pizza oven. W/separately purchased steamer-a veggie steamer as well.
Listing @ just $10.00 more than its older model, Maximatic has kicked it up a notch or two. W/its updated snazzier look and larger size (height & width pretty much the same but depth, front to back is where most of the extra room is). Also much roomier cooking top. Profile is angled w/more room near the bottom which gives it a nice look. Looks much better than as pictured.
This one has a 'stay on' and timer function w/bell too. Yay!
The roomier multi-use top is very handy (why don't they all do this ???). The well thought out combo design enables the heat in the top to be put to good use as a steamer and warmer when roasting/baking/broiling. This was the biggest reason for choosing Maximatic in the first place and then replacing it w/the newer model. The top used as griddle is another cooking option (though seems somewhat cramped).
I was hoping a standard 9x13 would fit, but 2 8x8 works too. I have located some great cookware that does fit so not a priority or problem.
The brand is not well known @ least to me. The price was right for my first Maximatic and I was in a bind so I grabbed it, but would never have purchased an unknown or little-known brand if given a choice. The first one did not disappoint and I'm hoping this one will last as that one did.

(More customer reviews)I had a toaster oven that died so I began the typical online research - trying to find the best bang for the buck.
I realize that online reviews are always subjective since you cannot ascertain the true ratio of "good to bad" experiences among the entire spectrum of customers, but only among those who are moved to write about it.
However, I noticed in reading reviews that experienced owners - looking to replace older infrared-assisted ovens - were disappointed to find that fewer and fewer companies offer them any longer to the consumer electronics market. Whereas on the commercial market, such as the restaurant industry, the technology has been used in larger Infrared ovens for many years.
The benefits claimed by the owners in using this technology for toaster ovens prompted me to find one - if I could. I felt skeptical when I learned that "Black and Decker" was the original designer/manufacturer of the only surviving product line I found, not being a real B&D fan, myself.
Some of this product line is sold bearing the B&D badge but the same models may instead wear the "Applica" name. "Applica Consumer Products" bought the enire InfraWave line, back in 1998.
Anyway - after contacting Applica by email and again by phone, I was convinced of the integrity of the unit and Applica's support. So I bought the FC300 unit for my wife and also the smaller FC150 for my mother, as Christmas gifts. I remain impressed with this oven to say the least.
The FC300 is larger than the FC150. After I saw the differences in size between the two units, I was glad I ordered the larger one for my wife. The smaller one is good for one person or "typical" toaster-oven duties, but if you use it for as many things as we do, the extra size is very nice.
The unit comes with a video CD that lets you watch various dishes being prepared, covering all aspects of use in step-by-step fashion. It has a paper manual as well, but the video is fast, helpful, and thorough.
The unit cooks faster than simple convection alone and offers automatic cooking time conversion. For example, you can input the conventional oven cooking instructions "verbatim" from the side panel of a frozen dinner, (time and temperature). If you select "convert", the InfraWave processor can automatically "shorten it" to cook via infrared as appropriate. Manual adjustment or intervention during a cooking cycle is also maintained as an option - and easily done on the fly should you require some variation in order to meet your taste.
Surprises include the oven's abilities to cook foods to perfection that you might normally prefer to cook using another device. Chicken can be tender and juicy inside while browning the skin golden and crispy. Steaks can be broiled with excellent flavor and texture, (yes, I know the BBQ grill reigns supreme - but try it on a rainy day and you will be pleasantly surprised).
Pre-heating is a thing of the past. You never do that anymore because this baby jumps right to work on frozen foods without delay. Frozen pizza is a no-brainer and the control panel has its own dedicated "pizza" button - as well as individual buttons for other popular foods typically cooked in an oven.
You will be impressed with how this unit can just about replace your conventional oven for any foods that will fit inside it. The energy savings for using this unit as opposed to the full-sized oven are real, but even more valuable to us is the way the food is cooked faster and tastes better - even with leftovers, (which won't taste like leftovers).
I believe that you can purchase one of these with confidence. So far it has been a great addition to our cooking apppliance arsenol. We've found it to be MUCH more than just a toaster oven!

Cuisinart TOB-50 Toaster Oven Review

- The ease of cleaning the bottom tray, cheese, grease and all
- The Golden Brown & Delicious toasting of bagels, frozen waffles and bread
- The feel of the controls, even though I use medium color toast 80% of the time.
- While I have preferred functionality over form, I like the way it looks too.
Original review:
We use toaster ovens so much -no, never for real baking- but for open face sandwiches, anything where browning cheese is on top, freezer waffles and the like. Almost everything we use drips. Eventually all toaster ovens end up with grease and other solidified crud that bonds to the insides. So, we'd look for deals on the $30 Black & Decker classic toaster oven, buy two, and replace after 7-14 months rather than deep-clean them. I recycle religiously, but the B&D's only lasted about that long with our usage. As did a couple of more expensive TO's.
This time we've gone with the $99 Cuisinart. Sorry for that long history above, but I think more people will relate to this experience. Here are the nice points:
- Toast seems to take longer than the B&D, but there's a lot of room, and the golden-browning seems to be better and more even. Sourdough, whole wheat, plain white, seeded sourdough and baguette slices all seem to get this rich color that might just be the result of slightly slower toasting.
- Toasting freezer waffles is just amazing. Crisp, golden and no burns. Sometimes I like to add butter and honey at the end of the cycle and toast some more, and the results are very very good.
- Lots of space, great for that leftover pasta that you can add cream to, cover with cheese and bake over. The base is stable and the rack slides out very easily, holding a ceramic oval dish with ease.
- I kept trying to find out the wattage on this oven, one place had 900W (less than the B&D's 1300+ claim) but I haven't found it yet. I took my chances and I'm happy so far. This has two elements on top and two below. I like the results of this placement.
- For something you use every day, the controls are very pleasing to use. No cheap clunk at all. Nice heavy feel to the knobs, and an elegant start and stop button.
- The door is flat, and the hinges are a bit noisy but again the feel is solid
- The top gets hot (it's brushed stainless) and seems to want to expand. But this doesn't bother me.
- Built-in spacers are very convenient. The handles on the sides help keep some distance from other things (1/2") and there are bumpers behind to keep space between the oven and the wall.
- The interior is very straight, no funky shaping. Perfect and timeless.
- The rack is offset from the sides that slide into the toaster, offering a low or high position on each of two sets of rails. We like the upper rail, low position. Four possibilities.
If this lasts me three years I'll be very happy and at the same price point as the B&D's (which have become increasingly unreliable lately, toast buttons fail fast). Cleaning seems to be simple, stuff doesn't adhere to the crumb tray much. Cuisinarts are typically overpriced, but so far those I have, have been a great oasis when you've tried a bunch of other appliances that have problems. You eventually get to the point where "value" redefines to something that will feel good to use daily and function flawlessly. If this fails on me, I'm coming back to retract some of those five stars.

Unlike the Cuisinart the T-Fal is easy to clean, it doesn't have an area by the glass-hinged door that is impossible to clean. The crumb tray is accessed from the front of the oven, not the back. Also the T-Fal shuts off when the time on the timer is done. The warming tray is great for warming hot dog buns while broiling hot dogs in the oven. The controls are straight forward and easy to use without having to read the manual. I'm looking forward to many years of good cooking with this oven. If I experience any problems I'll update this review.

Hamilton Beach 31199XR Countertop Convection Oven Review

I called the mfr to learn the differences between the 31199XR and others, and was told 31199XR lacks the rotisserie components. That's fine with us as we would never use them! It also lowered the price quite a bit. If you do not plan to use the rotisserie, buy this model!
We bought it because the thermostat on our very old range died, we can't find a replacement, and we are planning to remodel the entire kitchen next summer---so we did not want to buy a range just now.
The convection seems to speed up browning of items but not necessarily cooking all the way through, so you have to be careful --- we browned a couple of pot pies last night more than we wanted to! We are still getting used to using the convection feature.
The oven bakes everything in the same time as usual with a full size range. The difference is in the preheat time---it preheats way faster than the large stove. Also, we use the convection feature to speed the preheating phase and then turn it to Bake for the actual cooking. We have an oven thermometer hanging from the rack.
I roasted a 7 lb turkey breast in it shortly after it arrived--everything perfect. I did have to put foil on the bird partway through cooking, to keep it from overbrowning, but I do that for the full size oven, too.
The top does get hot but not as blazing hot as some reviews indicate. Ours is placed well away from cabinet bottoms, other appliances, etc. All of our existing casseroles and pans will fit inside except a 13 x 9" baking dish. I have a lot of Corningware pyroceram and even the large oval French White casserole fits (rather snugly).
You have to keep the inside spotlessly clean---these electric ovens *will* start fires if you leave a lot of grease and crumbs inside. The bottom pulls all the way out, for cleaning in the sink -- that gray thing in the photo is the handle that runs along the edge. The racks also come out, and when it is cool you can clean the inside easily. If you bake something that drips, like yams, put a piece of foil under it to make cleanup easier.
Someone in another review said he burned his hand opening the door--- I place my hand over, not under, the handle when opening the door and I do not get burned---I also have in my possession a number of potholders, and I use them! : -- )
We are very pleased with this purchase and to tell the truth, we are planning to continue using it after the remodel. It's great for baking something for one or two. I highly recommend it.

(More customer reviews)I'm giving this convection/toaster 5 stars based on it's performance at it's price range and class. You can spend 3-4 times as much on a professional countertop convection oven like the Franklin convection oven (Amazon ASIN: B000BQ0CP6) for $250 and get a better product. However, I've used both and by comparison I think you really get your money's worth with this product.
We've had ours for about a month now and use it daily. The results are amazing. I've made numerous frozen pizzas, a meatloaf, cookies, brownies, loads of toast and lots of french fries among other things. The oven performed quite well in all cases. There is definitely a little bit of a learning curve and I goofed up a few things before I figured out how to use it. I would definitely recommmend reading the directions and following many of the recommendations for rack and food placement. That is actually very important.
Some examples of "tweaks" are as follows: With brownies you need a lower temperature than the box states when using convection and you might want to use a combination of convection and regular baking for cakes and browines.
With chocolate chip cookies you want to go with straight convection heat and depending on the mix you use you'll need to tweak the cycle. Cookies bake in much less time but you can get abolutely perfect and uniformly colored cookies! No more burnt bottoms! For example Ghiardelli dry cookie mix from the box cooks a little differently than the frozen dough that comes in a chub, even though the baking instructions on the packages are about the same. As you might expect you can only make about 6 average cookies, or biscuits at a time.
The convection bake is excellent for making all kinds of frozen french fries that come out perfect every time. Spring rolls come out great. The oven has several pre-programed cycles, a light, a timer, and every cycle offers the opportunity to tweak the temperature and/or time. There is a nice light inside the unit that makes it easy to check food.
Other notes: When making toast be sure to follow the directions for setting the rack.
Major Plusses:
1. Holds a very consistent temperature
2. Does a very good job on many types of food - better than a conventional oven
3. Produces very uniformly cooked foods
4. Cooks many foods in less time
5. Bottom tray is easy to remove and clean
6. Easy to use

A few drawbacks:
1. It does not quite fit most 9 x 13 pans, but will cook 12 inch pizzas.
2. It does get hot and you need to be careful how you open it and where you put your hands.
3. It only comes with one shelf. I would like two shelves for making cookies.
4. There is a bit of a "learning curve" if you're not used to convection
5. The oven operated at a slightly higher temperature than what my oven thermometer reads, but it holds at one, even temperature very well and it was consistently about the same difference at all ranges from 300 to 450. I'm honestly not sure which temperature was more correct, the oven's or my thermometer's. Based on my baking, the oven may be running a tad hotter than it says but it's easy to adjust. I would recommend checking your oven, as they may differ.

(More customer reviews)I was pretty frightened to try this toaster, but I had one several years ago and after trying a much more expensive model that took at least 10 minutes to toast bread, I decided to try it, despite all the bad reviews. And for $40, what more do you want? The oven does indeed turn off when the bell rings and can toast frozen bread in about 5 minutes, slower than a regular toaster, but much faster than the high end countertop oven that I tried. I waited about a month to write this review, because I was expecting to see flames coming from the unit, but so far it's been fine. I've used this to reheat pork chops and steak and it has worked quite well and I really like the hooks that pull the rack out about an inch when the door is opened.

(More customer reviews)This item has been nicely updated. It now has a black and stainless steel look which just happens to match my updated kitchen. Also, capacity is larger than previously. On the down side, a tray is not provided; previous models included the proper size tray. Secondly, I am concerned about the door. It opens on one hinge to a "springy", unstable position; previous models had a hinge on both sides of the door which opened to a solid, firm position. The Spacemaker Oven no longer enters "Pause" mode when you open the door to check on your food; oblivious to the open door, it just keeps on cooking. Although the word "broil" appears nowhere on this unit, "Bake" mode can be set to broiling temperature, 450 degrees.
As you may have read elsewhere, installation of this unit can be quite a challenge. You can follow B&D's directions to a point, but after you place a washer over each of the four holes as directed I would suggest you follow these alternate directions (for Standard Installation): (1) Drop a screw through each washer, covering each of the 4 holes. There should be ample amount of screw protruding beneath your cabinet to allow for proper threading into the nut. Choose screws accordingly from the hardware bag provided. No need to search in the bag for the nuts. They are already implanted into the mounting hood. See them? (2) On the floor--or on a table that you can circumnavigate--attach the hood to the oven, NOT to the cabinet as the folks at B&D would have you do. (3) The half inch or so space between the top of the oven and the bottom of the hood must be maintained temporarily or else the hood might disengage in the rear. Therefore, insert a wash cloth into this space on each side of the unit. You may first want to fold them neatly in order to create a more snug, even fit. Leave part of each wash cloth hanging out of the space for ease of removal when the time comes. (4) At this point, if you are strong enough to lift the oven and screw it onto the bottom of your cabinet, go ahead and do so. Then skip down to step #6. If you aren't that strong--or, very wisely, just want to be cautious--we will need to put something on top of the counter, something that will prop up the oven to a few inches below the four hanging screws. For example, I used two pillows. I put the pillows on top of the counter and the oven, facing me, atop the pillows. Assuming that you arrange something similar, using pillows or whatever, the top of the hood should now be only a few inches below the four hanging screws. (5) Okay, this is it! You have your Phillips screwdriver, right? And may I assume that your cabinet doors are open? With one arm under the oven, probably your left if you're right-handed, you are going to raise the oven in order for the hood to make contact with the bottom of the screws. Meanwhile, your right hand, holding the screwdriver down in the screw of your choice, is eagerly waiting to screw. When you get one screw done it's like you've got a helping hand. Don't screw it all the way, though. Go to the next, then the next, then the last. Now screw them in more, evenly. Finally, tighten them up. (6) Now pull out the wash cloths. Under no circumstances are you to leave anything in that space. (7) I find that the unit looks better without the four little feet. If you agree, use your Phillips to unscrew them.
