In learning to use this device, one has to really be wiling to experiment. The cooking times listed in the manuel and any cookbook you buy--ranges in time from 30 mins to 3 days!!!! How can you possible understand what makes sense for your particular item? I also bought the SousVide vacuum device which isnot very high quality. I would buy someone else's if doing it again.
The food comes out pretty good. Flank steak and salmon and fingerling potatoes really great--almost perfect. Fresh carrots very good.
My SousVide came with a top that is warped--which I didn't realize right away---so it doesn't fit right--I have to put something heavy on top while cooking.
Certainly makes for a nice conversation piece.
