The problem is the voltage -- it needs European voltage and a European receptacle for the plug. But that makes it 4 times as efficient as anything that runs on lower US voltage. Typically in the USA, only water heaters, large air conditioners, and kitchen ranges require 220. Years ago, we brought an electric kettle back from Ireland because it boiled water so much faster than anything American made. We also brought the wiring, box, and receptacle for the appliance plug (different from ours) -- tapped into the 220 line that runs our oven and installed the receptacle in the wall nearby. Now we can make our tea almost immediately. This oven needs the same things -- we installed wiring for a similar model which is well made and works extremely well. Would be prohibitively expensive if you need to call in an electrician, however. We are way behind the times in the US when it comes to economical, efficient use of electricity.
